I've recently discovered the joys of a.) improvising melodies as I walk to and from work, and b.) using Garageband to occasionally record some of it.

Is this something any of you do? If yes, would you be willing to share a sample or two? I'm also curious if people have tricks and tips re: recording voice casually outside of a studio.

...sure, I do that too, usually in the form of making songs when I am on the phone, sort of like theme songs: mine come across as somewhat-baroque-influenced...and I just started using Audacity, the free shareware program that seems easy to record stuff in your own house etc. ...other than that, if a song comes up like a hairball or something, I sing it into my camera, and then in theory put it onto Audacity, or in practice, I keep intending to do so...
